No-code website builder, spoiled for choice?
No-code Tools are tools that help you develop software without coding.
With no-code tools, you don't need to be a professional developer or have any development knowledge to create a fully functional website. Let's take a look at a short introduction to no-code website builders and their pros and cons.
Table of Contents
1. Wordpress
2. Webflow
3. Sqaurespace
4. Wix
5. Other no-code builders
1. Wordpress
This is the original no-code website builder. You can say it's a no-code tool, but since the features vary depending on the theme or plugin, I think you should compare the pros and cons of theme builders rather than evaluating WordPress.
As of February 2023, it has a global market share of over 43%. The U.S. portion is not to be ignored.
Pros
- Tons of templates to choose from
- Lots of plugins for really complex websites
- Can be built for a fraction of the cost
- SEO optimized to help you get found on Google
Cons
- Too many themes and plugins is also a con.
- Slow
- Difficult to create and learn compared to other no-code tools (depending on the theme and plugins)
2. Webflow
Webflow allows you to create functional and aesthetically pleasing websites. Webflow allows you to edit html, css, and javascript, and you can extract the code after creation. It also has many design tool adjustments such as animation effects and dynamic content, so you can achieve results similar to Pygma.
It works very well with WIROOM AI and Pygma. Wireframes created in Wirum and Pygma can be imported into Webflow and turned into websites. Almost all functions that can be created by coding can be implemented in Webflow, and the design autonomy is very high. For this reason, all web agencies overseas are changing their production methods from WordPress to Webflow.
Pros
- Editable HTML, CSS, and Javascript
- Drag-and-drop, but faster than other no-code tools
- Lots of design tool adjustments, so the result can be almost Pygma-like (change fonts, padding, margins, etc.)
- Code can be extracted after creation
- Easy to learn with tutorial videos that explain how to use the features and functions
- Built-in e-commerce features are very handy for implementing checkout functionality
- Lots of built-in SEO features to help you optimize your website for SEO, including metadata editing and customizable URLs
Cons
- Very expensive compared to other no-code tools
- Difficult to learn and use compared to other website no-code tools due to its many features
- No data integration, so you have to create it manually
- Payment types are complicated
- High degree of freedom, but integration with other platforms is quite limited compared to other no-code tools
3. Sqaurespace
This is a lesser-known CMS solution that is priced similarly to WordPress. Recently, it has gained a lot of recognition thanks to marketing. It has recently gained popularity among younger users due to its sleek templates and professional design.
Pros
- Sleek design and clean layout
- Well optimized for SEO
- Animations are available
Cons
- Pricing is on the expensive side
- No auto-save feature, so you have to save every time you make changes to your website
- Doesn't support Paypal for payments
4. Wix
This is the easiest and most recognized website builder to use. It's the builder that allows you to create a website in the least amount of time.
Pros
- Lots of templates
- Editor allows you to freely edit your design
- ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) feature allows you to automatically create customized websites
- Free to use
- SEO optimized (clean URLs, meta tags, etc.)
- Easy to create a quality website
Cons
- If you change themes, you have to build from scratch to match the new theme
- Doesn't support responsive design on tablets
5. Other NoCode Builders
oopy
Easy to write content and edit HTML, but long loading time and no variety of themes. There is also a limitation that you cannot add plugins other than those in oopy.
Super
Great for those who want to create simple landing pages. It's responsive and has a short loading time. It's not very polished, so sometimes there are URL errors or errors that don't save when you save.
Carrd
Carrd has a lot of templates and dynamic pages, but it's a single page builder, so you can't create multiple pages.
Typedream
It has layout and design features, but it doesn't integrate with databases.
Glide
Glide is a no-code tool that allows users to create mobile apps using spreadsheets. With Glide, non-developers can turn data from a spreadsheet into a user-friendly mobile app that can be published to the Google Play Store/App Store. It's easy to use compared to other no-code tools. By integrating your Google Sheet or Excel spreadsheet with Glide, you can quickly turn your data into a mobile app without coding.
Adalo
A no-code tool for creating mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. It offers powerful database features that allow users to store and manage data within the application.
Softr
Softr can be designed in sections and visualizes data in dashboards for easy viewing. The implementation of database functionality allows you to create dynamic pages, but the UI is often broken, and updates are very slow to reflect and error-prone.
